Vic&lloyd guestmixing at De Hop, Studio Brussel

On-Point Podcast: Vic&lloyd guestmixing at De Hop, Studio Brussel

We’ve been talking about it maybe just one too many times, but indeed, vic&lloyd gueststarred De Hop on Studio Brussel two weeks ago.

From what I’ve heard listeners enjoyed our attempt to “blend the old with the new. Old being some all-time favourite classics, new being some exclusive unreleased tracks by the likes of La Mescla, Bob Ballistic and dj Iron.”

Furthermore you’ll hear some Jazzy Jeff, Isaac Hayes, 45King, Slum Village, Bob James, Gil Scott-Heron, Theo Parrish, Lootpack, J Dilla, The Stylistics, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, etc. etc.

For the old-school heads, this is to be considered a sequel to the infamous VanWidderVoeGidder mixtape and yes, a prequel to the forthcoming VanWidderVoeGidder Two mixtape. The saga continues, can’t stop, won’t stop!

Download the cover, and,… well,… yeah… print it! (Once again a killercover by jtothec, aka vic-torious.)

SNS Podcast - J Dilla Tribute Mixtape Side A (Coming up!)

It’s been a year now since Jaydee passed away. There has been a whole lot of tributes, mixes, podcasts, parties, t-shirts, posters, name it. And it’s only right. I won’t get into Dilla’s influence on beats, rhymes, music as a whole or anything like that.

By now you probably already know.

Just in case you don’t, we’re having our very own Wonderful tribute Feb.24. Later on today the podcast episode will be hosted, none other than SNS J Dilla Tribute Mixtape - Side A.

One thing about Dilla that has been a bit overlooked though, in my humble opinion, is his singing. Dilla sang! Not your heavyweight crooner but damn I loved it when he threw in some melody. So withouth further ado, here’s my list of favourite Dilla songs, featuring Dilla on the chorus:

- Slum Village - Fall in Love
- Slum Village - Fall in Love Remix
- Fourtet - Serious as Your Life Remix
- Spacek - Eve Remix
- Jaydee - Think Twice

New Podcast - lloyd’s sloppy interpretation of an early Mondaymorning

Why not start the week with a new podcast episode? And why not host it myself?

The fact that it’s 4am in the Mondaymorning, tomorrow’s a heavily scheduled day, I don’t fully master my new mixer yet, the previous podcast hosted by BLA was utter brilliance and my mind is suffering from this jetlag-type-of-vibe, didn’t stop me.

I might take the mix offline in a week or so, so download quick, spread the word if you feel like, consider it an exclusive, just like the previous sloppy mixes that were uploaded (there offline now, aren’t they?)

So here it is:

on-point - 290103 lloyd’s sloppy sundaynightmix - (www.on-point.be)

It’s lo-fi, it’s sloppy, etcetera etcetera. But do enjoy the likes of Moodymann, The Dells, Marvin Gaye, Stefan Goldmann, Pepe Braddock, Kerri Chandler amongst many others. Total time: 56min.46.

Onda Sonora - BLA - 2007 a l’aise mix

I had nearly counted my way into the new year when the dj off the night hit me with a neat looking cd-r. As you can see, the label reads “BLA, the 12″ Allah - a l’aise mix voor 2007″. Which means it’s a nice godlike mix featuring what one might call the now-sound, on the chill side of life.

Ain’t no half-stepping so I said: “BLA, if this is dope, can I podcast it?” So I asked the man.
“Sure,” he replied in a calm post 2006 way. Which was nice. And the mix was dope.

So here it is, for you and yours: BLA giving it to y’all OndaSonora style. That sweet futuristic sound, lovin’ it. (also peep their site: ondasonora.blogsome.com.

On-Point PodCast

As of today your favourite blog will offer you a monthly mix.
By some, the concept is referred to as PodCasting, I for one prefer to call it just another act of love, towards the reader with an audiovisual interest.

Here it is, the On-Point PodCast (http://on-point.podhost.de)

Due to the limitedness of the service, mixes will probably be either short, or lo-fi.
No worries though, they will always be enjoyable, if not nutcrackingly banging!

Also feel free to link through, etcetera etcetera.

A good day,
and remember,
you,
are my favourite reader!
