Video: Soul:ID EPK - Sex, Love & Philosophy - Promo video
Last month I’ve made the EPK that’s accompanying the release of Soul:Id’s highly anticipated debut album ‘Sex, Love and Philosophy’
I’ve had some great times getting to know the band and I must say I’ve rarely seen such dedicated people, focussed on doing things the right way. Seeing things happen made me realise it actually is not so surprising they’re debuting on the infamous ABB Soul label in the States. (with releases in Japan and the UK following shortly after)
The album is a killer, it was featured in Billboard. Still, no press interest in Belgium, strange, isn’t it? I guess it’s the stereotypical story, you’ll have to succeed abroad before you get noticed. As you’ll see in the video though, the band has been touring internationally already.
ABB Soul made a nice e-card, in which the EPK is nicely featured, which is nice!
A video interview with tons of exclusive video material will be featured on on-point tv somewhere next month. Busy times on the editing tip, learning a lot of new tricks. Stay tuned for more tv, and needles to say, please spread the word. Because here’s what to expect:
- Graffiti Royal Video (ft. SozyoneGonzalez, Shake, Rekto, Olivier Stak, etc.)
- Ben Westbeech Interview
- Dave Decat Interview
- Soil&Pimp Sessions Interview
- BlueNoteRecordsFestival Interviews
- etc. etc.
And after that I’ve got another round of jobhunting to do.

Still, no press interest in Belgium, strange, isn’t it?
I told you before… something’s going pretty wrong in this country if it’s about press reviews, interviews etc.

I stopped bothering about Belgium and it neglecting Soulful Music completely … it has become a fact of life … Belgian media don’t know it exists anymore … when the last time you saw something about it in Humo or De Morgen ? … when’s the last time national radio or tv spent some minutes on it ? (apart from De Hop) … where we had “Funkytown” and “Domino” years ago diggin’ deep into the genre … same with our main concert halls, parties and festivals … only when they can’t avoid it like with Amy Winehouse or when it’s in a package deal
you can fight it or you can ask yourself if it’s worth bothering … Belgium is too small to waste your energy on … concentrate on the goods things around us … the Uk, the Dutch even Germans have a decent scene … join that, focus on that … the true Belgian Soul musketeers will get their knowledge anyway (through the net) and will make the trip if necessary … I will for sure
apart from that … can’t wait to check the album
