Ultraboyz, being Brussels’ graffitifamily that gave birth to Sozy.One.Million, BYZ, Jaba, Shake, etc. Features the latest info on expo’s, t-shirts, etc.

Twee pagina’s lofzang aan Alice in de Standaard vandaag. No hard feelings aan de redactie die ik halverwege september al mijn interview met Sozy.One voorgesteld had, de omstandigheden zijn verzachtend. Al blijft het natuurlijk steken dat =lloyd= er niet staat, en Pablo evenmin. Maar on the bright side, we zijn goed bezig, daar mocht niet aan getwijfeld worden en met de chef zijn we meer dan ooit goeie vrienden.

Allen naar de krantenboer dus, en kopen die Standaard!

Een enkele keer ga ik ervan uit dat als we maar hard en diep genoeg blijven denken, we alles uiteindelijk wel zullen begrijpen. Niet zo gisteren.

Naast vrouwen slaag ik er ook niet in kijkfiles te ontcijferen. Tenzij de twee zich natuurlijk in een organisch geheel zouden koppelen, wat ik niet uitsloot, aanschuivend op de E40. Stilstaand. Aanschuivend. Sjeesend. Stapvoets.

Je weet dat het zover is als de hemel straalt en de wegeninfo geen ongeval vermeldt. Kijken dus en je mag hopen dat er iets te zien is, in the end. Helaas, geen muze te bespeuren op de pechstrook, zelfs niet in de buurvoitures. O ironie, na een kwartier komt een brug aangeschoven die in gezellig avondlijk geel “FILE” toeschreeuwt. Self-fullfilling prophecy? Het is dat of de fanatieke front-row onthaaster.

Ik kan me bij zulke files namelijk nooit van de indruk ontdoen dat blijkbaar ergens vooraan de rij een onverlaat plots besliste dat het tijd was te onthaasten. Voor ons allemaal. Even relaxen , daar is het zondag voor. De handrem op. Mijn portiek zwaaide open. En zo gebeurde het dat ik gezwind de 800m inzette en me onder luid gejoel aansloot bij de kop. Te voet, tikje op het raam, een onthaastte meneer lachte me toe.

Of meneer misschien eenzaam was op de autosnelweg, dat hij zoveel volk achter zich wou scharen? Of dat slappe rechterbeentje soms niet wist dat het mocht Voort Maken, of dat er anders wat zou zwaaien? Een niet-begrijpende blik zocht de mijne, ik hief mijn wenkbrauw … en dat was dat. Niets meer te zien en de file hief zich op. Terug in de voiture zette ik de achtervolging in.

Lang duurde dat niet want toen volgden nog twee kijkfiles. Figurant in een aftandse road-movie die maar niet op gang komt. Eenzaam brulde ik nog: “KIJK VOOR U EN RIJ DOOR!!”

We had this one coming for quite some time but it’s only recently I noticed everything is already up and running: Amp Soul Generation Radio on Samurai.fm.
That is, Roland Arnoldt and Jay Scarlett’s Bass Boulevard Radio (Munich, Germany) live in the Japanese internetstream. Yes Sir.

“What does this have to do with you lloyd, your highness?”

Well, click through, listen and you’ll hear lloyd’s infamous Steve Spacek chit-chat, once again. Can’t get enough of it really.
If all goes well more interviews should be aired in the near future. In any case I sure hope so, still got that Roy Ayers interview laying around, ya dig.

Newsflash: While big studios are still fighting over Sasha’s latest movie “Borat: cultural learnings of America to make benefit glorious nation of Kazachstan”. Plans are already made for a follow-up. Sasha’s next movie will be a full-length feature on Bruno, the Austrian gay reporter. Shooting would already start Summer 2007.

I’m getting all nostalgic on these Japanese commercials.

Apparently the man who started this nerdy, yet genuinely cool, concept was Rube Goldberg.

And you thought streetart was online happening abroad? Guess twice, Brusselsbased artists Bonom (*) & Lork made a killer series of works in Etterbeek. Here’s a video of how it looks like, animated by nothing but the train passing by. Ain’t that brilliant?

This actually has been done before in metrostations in Brussels, only thing that seems to be overlooked in that case is the metro of course always stops in the station, therefore you never get to see the animation … animated (unless you’re a joy-riding metro-driver).

More news about the man called Bonom later on. The area where I rock my nine-to-five seems to have been the centre of Bonom’s former working space. I have no clue where the man is currently residing but I do see his urban footsteps marked around the corner. A whole lot of his old works are just there, in the streets. Heads high, watch it.

On-Point HQ has been the epicentre of chaos this week, magnetised by the attraction of at least four überdope projects I’ve found myself to busy to blog. Which is nice, but I do want to stress out we’re still standing strong.
Nothing but the illest is on the menu for now, my bet is the first results will be blogged in a week, or maybe two, your faithful servant won’t let you down! Haven’t made a big old coffee in a while, so there you have it:

Here’s an old interview with Sasha Baron Cohen on his adventures as the infamous ALI G and particuraly on his close encounter with a CIA big man.

This dates from the pre-Borat era but we all now sooner or later Sasha will speak upon the Borat-saga. My guess is it’ll be in a month or two.

Movie hits theatres this Wednesday, better schedule that in the old agenda, you’ve all been waiting for that and I tell you, it’s brilliant, I know it, because I’ve seen it. Now go and envy. Or check out Sasha:

Back to Wim and his zone: some like it, some don’t, some say it’s typically Belgian, some say it’s universal. All I can say is it can only come from a genuine mastermind, Wim Helsen baby!

So yeah, we’ve all heard about the recent YouTube craze and I suddenly realised months ago I wanted to share this relatively new online phenomena of the everyday-photo-video. The concept is to make a picture of yourself each and every day over a long period after which you make it into a nice looking freaky morph style video. Quite insane if you ask me, but hey, can’t stop, won’t stop, so here you have a good example:

Families visiting Disneyland on their holiday this week saw a life-size Guantanamo bay inmate standing inside the Rocky Mountain Railroad ride at Disneyland in Anaheim California.

The sculpture, consisting of an inflatable doll dressed in an orange jumpsuit with its hands and feet manacled remained in place for one and a half hours before Disneyland’s security staff shut down the ride and removed it amid fears over public safety. (woostercollective.com)

In videoclips voor de groten der aarde (Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue, The White Stripes, etc.) verdiende Michel Gondry zijn reputatie van optisch tovenaar en met “Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” bewees hij geen eendagsvlieg te zijn.
Wie een beetje vertrouwd is met het werk van de Franse cineast weet het al langer dan vandaag: de man is een dromer. Maar slapen doet hij allerminst. In “The science of sleep” vertelt Gondry andermaal een romance en de parallellen met “Eternal sunshine …” zijn nooit ver weg, al kan je dat bezwaarlijk slecht noemen. Leest u gerust mijn voorlopig laatste cuttingedge review.
