Bouga dans le quartier
Where I live, only a couple of housenumbers away, weekly jamsessions are held, literally down underground, in a cave.
I’ve been frequenting the spot for a while now, having recognized it for its ‘Brusselsness’, which I so very much adore.
After a while one gets used to the occassional surprise, it’s what you get when 85% of the crowd considers itself an artist, right. But tonight I really didn’t see coming. It wasn’t until the master of ceremony asked the crowded “Qui connait Belsunce Breakdown?!!!!”
And well waddayaknow! Bouga jumped on stage. Honestly, this was the first time I saw the mans face. BUT, I can recall when back in the days I copped the Belsunce Breakdown 12″ single, I was quite the outkast of the class.

Years later I was in a discoteque with =vic=, having a dj gig. We were lined up right after a techno-set. (This was when J-Lo’s “Jennie from the block” was still hot, people didn’t quite get it when =vic= put the Beatnuts “Watch out now” on the decks,…)
Anyway, that night we were supposed to rock the party, as an unknown underground dj-duo lined-up right after a techno-dj who had driven the crowd to insane hights … stressing, indeed. Untill I pulled Bouga’s “Belsunce Breakdown” record from my crate, gave it to =vic= and said something like: “Play it now, it’ll freak them out, trust me!”
Now =vic= didn’t know the record, but I tell you the crowd went màd, going into sponatuous ppklts’ing, spanking those asses, making vic ‘n’ lloyd feel very sorry for not being on the dancefloor theirselves. And the rest, of course, is history…
Tonight, the same Bouga, was holding it down at the jamsessions in my very own street. Didn’t dare to go talk to him, but one of his Brussels contacts told me the whole connection thing was set up through… MySpace.

Now =vic= didn’t know the record,….”
ouch =vic=
voor de rest nice story, wish I was there.
