Cassettes and their Decks
So just the other day me and =vic= were wondering to what extend the TapeDeck is still being used…
Me myself, I have two decks, both are broken down and my technical skills are insufficient, so no tapelistening pleasure for me. But apart from that, I consider myself, quite a tape-afficionado. Ain’t nothing better in the palm of my hand than a killer tape.
Anyway, we were wondering right, and the answer didn’t come, so here’s the question, dearest reader:
a. Do you have a tapedeck?
b. Do you have tapes laying around?
c. Do you actually put the tape in the friggin’ deck every once in a while?
Please do answer, also the non-commenting visitors (I see you! statistics blow your cover away, you can’t hide!)
Help us out here, ask around, tell a friend, we need to know. It’s a matter of national importance, really.

Now look here, lloyd. Me myself, i still listen to tapes in my car, coz it’s the only thing that’s in my car worth listening to.
As they continue to play a lot of crap on the radio (shit’s ridiculous to think that the reason why it’s probably crap is that maybe i’m just not in the right mood at the time to listen to this perticular song…blablabla.. it’s crap!), and since i don’t have a cd-player yet -because i drive an old car- , i still listen to tapes.
Hmm.. makes me come up with this new question..
d) How many of you still have a tapedeck in your car?
i bet a lot of you do! So why get rid of the concept “mixtape” on an actual cassette?! To hell with CD’s, i sez.
As a matter of fact, i was just having a conversation about tapes, cassettes, with my man Soon, from the BTJ, and he told me he hadn’t been listening to tapes quite a while, and recently rocked one of his old cassettes in a deck. He was amazed by the vibe and nice sound coming from his deck. “People that switch on a lot from cd to cassette back and forth maybe don’t know the difference that well”, he said, “but i was amazed from the feel of it, as i had been listening to digital media for a while now.”
Heh, well… not even mentioning the cool size of the tape, which fits in the hand, (you can even tuck it away easely in your pocket) there’s still a lot of aspects of a tape that are just way cooler than a friggin’ cd.
Hey, well whaddaya know. I still rock tight shit on my tapedeck!

c) In de auto, ik heb nog zo’n een casette met experimentele hiphop en zo een vorm van dub met hiphop, ik check dat elke maand!

a box full of tapes without covers, (actually it’s the box of my old technics shdj1200 mixer)

Just spend 8 months relistening to my whole tape collection everyday in the kitchen while cooking, still some tapes to go

b. i got about 7 shoeboxes filled with mixtapes, old tapes, compilationstyle, taped of the radio & so on..
c. yeah, i do play tapes in the (my brother’s) car, and at home. Back in the days nobody killed anyone over a walkman…

Oi Pikeys!
I still have a tapedeck and I still use it!!! Old punkrock-tapes, Deftones and ofcourse the superb After-Hours tape are still in rotation at my crib. I still even use a walkman besides my mp 3-player to enjoy those golden compilations!
Don’t let the tapes die!

A. Yes, I actually got 4, I guess. That is if I count that ficherprice deck my sister got in too
B. Yes, I got several tapes layin around. Even got a special Santa Clause songs edition my granny gave me back in the days when i was a good boy.
C. Yes, i do put my tapes in my deck every once in a while. The one that’s in it the most and even right now as you read this is “Teip Jin - Van wudder voe gudder” by 2 cool cats doin their thing. Still wonderin where that Teip Twji stays

a. Yeah we do, in fact we have several! (and I’m waiting for my first boombox I ordered a while ago-oldskoolio) We used to have it in the car, but that car’s dead now.
b. Laying around? Hell no; way too tidy…but do have them …those highschool Alanis Morisette tapes haha…I also have my own “mix”tapes, demotapes, …
c. Sure! Stealing Mids Afterhourstapes while showering! Waiting for Mid to install a deck in my new car! (I say NO to cd-crap)

Broken down Technics tape deck
small shitload of mixtapes (jammer dat de tapes tegenwoordig op cd komen)
tapedeck in de auto ipv een cd-speler en ik check enkel m’n tapes in de auto. Zou niet weten hoe de radio klinkt

c) veel rondslingerende tapes, maar die komen zelden in het deck terecht… wel enkel tapedeck in de auto dus daar hebben mijn ‘nostalgie-tapejes’ toch nog enig nut!
Zo Alex, ik hoop dat dit aan je verwachtingen voldoet qua roeselaarse comment… Aangezien ik een internet-leek ben heb ik mezelf hier echt wel overtroffen!

Goedendag.
Cassettes! Geniale uitvinding. Door cassettes kon ik muziek opnemen, helemaal zelf, fantastisch. En dan liep ik heel hard naar de radio als het een goed liedje was, en dan drukte ik op het rode knopje. En zo kon ik maar de helft van Gangsters Paradise meezingen.
Ik heb nog een hoop van die mixtapes liggen, van toen De Afrekening nog ‘de max’ was en ik alle leuke nummertjes tapete. Ik schreef zelfs netjes alles op wat ik opnam en stak dat papiertje dan in het doosje. Man, man, nostalgie.
Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat het lang geleden is dat ik nog een van die cassettes heb beluisterd. Ze zitten in een schoendoos in de kast, klaar om herontdekt te worden. Al is mijn smaak ietwat geëvolueerd. Ik hou je op de hoogte.

Wie heeft niet van die momenten dat hij het rode bolletje zocht op zijn cassetterecorder. Enige moeilijkheid was dien play en da rode bolletje induwen!!! HaHa inderdaad Nostalgie…
