Gil Scott-Heron Interview + We Almost Lost Detroit
My heart was bleeding when I heard Gil Scott-Heron is sentenced for two to four years behind bars for some drug-related things.
Gil, man of a lot of words, why…? This is all new to me, but apparently he’s been struggling with temptation for a long time: “Despite (or because of?) anti-drugs tracks like “The Bottle” and “Angel Dust“, Gil has had a long term battle with substance abuse”
Anyway, here’s an interview and some music by the man. Witness a legend.
And my favourite tune: We Almost Lost Detroit:
Ow and for some reason people seem to be thinking Gil is the father of Jill Scott, please note the two are in no way affiliates, at all. The only link between the two is us being fans of both of them. Right? (As for pronounciation, say Gil with the G of Godfather, not the G of Gilles, now do it out loud)

Ai, bad news. GSH is ‘n muzikaal poeet wat mij betreft.
