Spijtig voor de makers van “Flight 93” dat die andere film over de vierde gekaapte elf–september–vlucht nog in de zalen loopt, want op zich is “Flight 93” een bijzonder pakkende film.
Het verschil met “United 93” zit hem in de stijlkeuzes, het gaat dan ook om een televisiefilm die minder mikt op de sensatie van het cinemascherm. Misschien leest u graag verder?

The description/slogan I couldn’t agree with more, but then again it seems like shameless case of cashing in to me. I don’t know what this fool is upto, all I see is somebody’s trying to jump on the pointdexter bandwagon!
Wearing “a lloyd” doesn’t make you one, not even half. Don’t like the design all that much either, no, =lloyd= wouldn’t’ sport a lloyd t-shirt. (Mind you, he also forgot my wings!)
We schrijven Brussel. Midden in de nacht ontwaakt Peter De Wit (Arno) in het lijkenhuis van een ziekenhuis, vermoedelijk uit een bijzonder diepe coma.
“Komma” is een erg mooie maar onsamenhangende film die ons met een verward en leeg gemoed achterliet.
Filmisch allemaal erg mooi maar de hiaten in het verhaal zijn ons net iets te onoverbrugbaar. Een aantal mysteries worden niet opgeklaard, als dat een artistiek verantwoorde keuze dan draagt het toch niet bij tot de film. Spijtig. De rest leest u hier.
Elton John plant zijn nieuwe album een hiphoptwist te geven. Maar dat is onderhand van geen belang meer, want =lloyd= draait house nu. Getuige daarvan de nieuwe on-point podcast!

Safe to say the best Belgian film ever made, so far, is “C’est arrivé près de chez vous /Man bites dog“. If you haven’t seen it already, lift your lazy butt and find yourself the dvd, it’s classic must-see material, and you know it.
The film is famous for a whole lot of reason (the extremely low-budget, Benoit Poelvoorde in his break-through main role, etc. etc.) But what makes it even extra special, is the cocktail Ben is drinking in the film, called “Le petit Grégory”.
It goes like this:

- 4 cl de gin
- 1 ficelle
- tonic (schweppes)
“Une larme de Gin… une rivière de tonic… et ensuite, la petite victime.

With a neck feeling rockhard like a solid armed concrete construction, I’m having a hard time getting my focus on.
What =lloyd= needs now, is a massage, seriously! That and a whole lot of energy, getting some studying and some graduating done, catch my drift. After that you might find me in a forest talking to some birds, I heard they’re fly this season..
Meanwhile, stay on-point, don’t go insulting people and socialize with your neighbours, nine out of ten times they’re the nicest people!
Smaak. Nog moeilijker dan ze te betwisten is ze te beschrijven. Ik verklaar me nader.
Gisterennacht leerde ik, al socializend on the corner, de smaak der pompoenpit kennen. Een niet te onderschatten openbaring.
“De la famille de la pistache”, dat wel, maar de smaak van de pompoenpit laat zich verder eigenlijk heel moeilijk definiëren. Speciaal maar niet exotisch, zilt maar geen gezouten pinda, licht doch karaktervol, enz. etc. Genoeg kenmerken om on-point te zijn, anders stond het hier niet.
De pompoenpit dus. Botanisch, culinair en decoratief verantwoord. En nu vroeg ik mij af, wat daaraan zou kunnen tippen. Once again, help me out here: Waarmee kan u uw foodfetish botvieren? En dan nog het liefst die specifieke flavour die u maar niet aan uw naaste omgeving uitgelegd krijgt? Killersmaakcombinaties kunnen natuurlijk ook, ik denk dan bijvoorbeeld aan Duvel, geflankeerd door een schaaltje pompoenpitten. Een genot te vergelijken met… weinig.
En voor alle duidelijkheid, het gaat hier om de zintuiglijke , niet de intellectuele smaak. Want zoals een wijzer man ooit zei:
“Mensen verliezen hun kalmte, als ze hun smaak verdedigen.”
In navolging van de Loose Change docu gisteren, vanavond om 20h00 de tegenargumenten, op Canvas, uiteraard.
Darwin and his theory on man and how he evolved from monkey to what we are now. Honestly, I usually don’t think it over, not spontanuously.
His theory (not all, but the evolution one, at least) makes just too much sense for me simply ignore it and say God himself did it.
Unless.. I’m forced into the topic, for instance by the following:

Hard one, I know. The type of statement one doesn’t see coming, not in Belgium. Not in Europe.

Speechless as I was I left it at that. One of them also showed some scepticism on dinosaurs, only if she were to see some bones she would believe the hype.

Ofte: ‘die internetdocumentaire over de gigantische samenzwering die de 11 september aanslagen zouden geweest zijn’.
Als u het nog niet gezien had, hier heeft u de volledige versie, Canvas zendt immers slechts een ingekorte versie uit (de zender slikt slechts een beperkt deel kwatsch per avond).
En voel u vooral niet schuldig, de docu is al vijf miljoen keer gedownload, u is dus niet de enige met ergens een vreemde hersenkronkel.
Niét meteen een toonbeeld van journalistiek sérieux, maar daarom niet minder interessant, misschien zelfs des te meer.
(Ow en bedankt aan iedereen die hieronder zijn steentje bijdroeg aan de tapekwestie, daarmee is het bezoekersaantal alhier alvast meer dan gebroken, ruim duizend unique visitors in augustus, en zoals de tweedezitters weten, is die maand nog net niet voorbij.)
So just the other day me and =vic= were wondering to what extend the TapeDeck is still being used…
Me myself, I have two decks, both are broken down and my technical skills are insufficient, so no tapelistening pleasure for me. But apart from that, I consider myself, quite a tape-afficionado. Ain’t nothing better in the palm of my hand than a killer tape.
Anyway, we were wondering right, and the answer didn’t come, so here’s the question, dearest reader:

Andre 3000 and Big Boi of Outkast fame are about to release their highly anticipated follow-up to the “Speakerboxx/Love Below” double-album (if you haven’t checked it out properly, please do so right away, because believe you me: it’s a future classic, and I’m not talking about that Hey Ya rockabilly type of thing, I’m talking real soul music here). Anyway, the new album is called Idlewild…
So far nothing special indeed. The thing is, it’s actually a soundtrack, with an actual motion picture accompanying the score, or vice versa. The film is called Idlewild too, no idea when it’ll reach European cinemas, but here are some samples of the film:
Visually speaking it has that over-all “Oh brother where art thou” feel, which is just brilliant. Musically speaking there’s some old, some new. The old stuff here is mainly from the forementioned Speakerboxx album. Although fragment three has the illest live version of “Movin Cool (The After-Party)”!
And whaddayaknow Terrence Howard is in it too, I’m expecting quite some blockbustin’ material from this man in the near future.
I hear g!rls screaming already. Can’t really blame them.
A big disappointment fell right on =lloyd=’s head today: the planned dj Shadow and Massive Attack interviews are cancelled. On the other hand, tonight Bass Boulevard aired the Steve Spacek interview. Much love to the fellas down in Münich, yezzurr.

Parabola, een nieuwe Belgische prent, helaas enkel in de Brusselse Vendôme in de zalen te zien. Geen must-see, maar de film laat wel een sterke indruk na.
Freestyle wonderkind Supernatural brak afgelopen zaterdag het wereldrecord freestyle rappen.
Maar liefst negen uur lang rapte de man aaneen, met god weet wat allemaal.
Zij die er niet bij waren kunnen in ieder geval nog even van zijn kunnen meegenieten, ondertussen bijna een jaar geleden in het schone Brugge: Supernat live op Locoflows 2005.

Ik zie mezelf graag als onverbeterlijke klootzak. Zo een die toeslaat vanuit de comfortabele, vertrouwde underdogpositie.
Net nog zat ik op de trein in het stuk tussen twee wagons in, kwestie van geen spelende kinderen of dito bejaarden te moeten doorstaan. Neen, ik geniet niet minder standing tussen twee klasses in, gezeten op de vloer.
In geval van een krijsende kroost knijp ik meestal wel een oogje dicht, en tot voor kort eigenlijk ook bij eender welke andere onverlaat die me daar bij het lezen van, bijvoorbeeld, een boek even uit mijn culturele concentratie komt storen. De meesten weten niet beter.
Maar. Nu heb ik er toch een oplossing voor gevonden, en wel deze middag, tussen Brugge en Gent Sint-Pieters. Alwaar ik het gezelschap kreeg van een jonge blonde bakvis/kalf en haar volgeling. Goed wetende dat lloyd daar in uiterste concentratie zinspelingen, adjectieven en ook wel wat Inhoud aan het verorberen was, vond ze er niets beter op dan haar favoriete liedje op te zetten. Mijn gsm kan dat niet eens, de hare had er duidelijk geen moeite mee.
Het betrof hier een zomerhit van vorig jaar, of het jaar daarvoor. Het soort tune dat me eigenlijk niet stoort, maar énkel met het nodige bassgeluid tot zijn recht komt. Helaas, zo heavy klonk haar mobieltje niet, waarop ik haar simpelweg… aangekeken heb.
Gedaan met de pret, mobieltje opgeborgen en lloyd kon verder lezen. Had ik geweten dat het zo simpel kon gaan, ik had al meer rond mij gekeken.

Er zijn in het leven slechts weinig combinaties die de perfectie benaderen. Zwarte koffie geflankeerd door een goed boek is er evenwel één van.
Pracht van een geschenk trouwens dat ik vandaag kreeg: “Los” van Tom Naegels. De achterflap leert mij dat het hier om een killer, dan wel bescheiden meesterwerk, gaat.
Benieuwd als we zijn beginnen we vanaf morgen aan de lectuur. Gecombineerd met Johan Anthierens’ Brel biografie (nog zo’n geweldig geschenk) denk ik dat we literair een bijzonder goeie weg ingeslaan zijn. Met dank aan mijn literaire coach.
(Merk op: ook de koffie is een klassieker, niet meteen een gedrufde keuze als pakweg “Zwarte Kat” of andere merken, gouwe ouwe douwe blijft het doen voor mij, jawel.)
